RANE Performer | 4 Channel Motorized Platter DJ Controller | I DJ NOW
You’ve seen it…you’ve heard about it…and today, we’re finally going to take a look at it. You heard right folks, we have got the much talked about Rane Performer right here!
Rane has been absolutely killing it when it comes to their DJ controller releases. We had the Rane One back in January 2021, a fantastic 2-channel motorized option, followed by the Rane Four in December 2022, a 4-channel option with static platters described as the world’s most advanced Serato Stems DJ controller. With this latest release, Rane has created a best of both worlds and come up with something I think a lot of people are going to enjoy and has a little something for everyone.
The first thing you’ll notice is that the layout of the Rane Performer is very much in line with the Rane Four. So, if you’re coming over from that platform, you’re looking at a pretty smooth transition.
Then there’s the platters, which are motorized! We have two high-torque motorized aluminum platters with magnetic acrylic vinyl-feel tops. You can pop these off and, Rane includes a slip ring pack so you can experiment with different combinations to find your preferred feel. We’ve also got these 3.5” wheel displays which can show various waveform or library views, and they even have a day mode for those of you who do outdoor performances.
You’ve got a 4-channel mixer section with 4 percision feel faders featuring a dual-rail, magnetic tension design. Each of these is tension adjustable by removing the faceplate and adjusting the set screws, and there are additional customizations you can make in the menu of the Performer. These feel great and are a good match for the Mag Four crossfader, which is also adjustable with the tension knob at the bottom.
Then there’s a beast of an FX section, with 29 main effects that you can trigger with the paddles, 4 software channel effects, on top of access to effects within Serato. In addition to familiar effects like reverb and echo, you’ve got new additions like riser, recycler, scale down and more. You’ve also got fader effects imported over from the Rane Seventy A Track Signature Edition mixer, allowing the faders to control effects like roll, pitch, and four different tone generators.
There are 16 Performance Pads down here with dedicated OLED displays for keeping track of your cue points, saved loops, samples, stem elements, and beat divisions.
Designed to work seamlessly with Serato Stems, the Rane Performer offers 4 different ways to incorporate stems into your DJing. There’s a Stems Level EQ Mode, dedicated buttons for Instrumental and Acapella, a Stems Performance Pad mode, and the Stem Split feature exclusive to Rane controllers.
The Rane Performer comes with Serato DJ Pro, and works with Serato DVS so you can incorporate traditional turntables with time code vinyl (a Serato DVS expansion pack is available). You can also add on controllers like the Rane 12 MK2 to DJ with 4 physical decks.
In terms of connectivity, you’ve got 2 USB laptop inputs, a choice of XLR and RCA main outputs, ¼” booth outputs, two switchable RCA inputs for line or phono signals, and two combi jack microphone inputs.
The Rane Performer is packed full of features, built like a tank, and we’re excited to have it here at I DJ NOW. Be sure to get your orders in for the Rane Performer today!
