QSC Spotlight: 4 Product Lines to Boost Your Sonic Power
Headquartered in Costa Mesa, California, QSC has been crafting speakers, amplifiers, and mixers for more than four decades. At IDJ Now, we’re proud to carry their top-tier lines, which are put to use in concert venues, movie theaters, and portable rigs around the world. Below, we’ve taken time to highlight our favorite QSC equipment and explain why their products truly stand out from the competition.
  1. K Series Speakers:
Ideal for live amplification and song playback, this series of PA speakers supports a wide frequency range (~48Hz – 20kHz), allowing you to hear rumbling bass and clear high-end frequencies. Made from molded ABS — a durable material that produces pleasant acoustics and can withstand serious handling — K speakers are capable of delivering lower frequencies than other brands of the same size, due to their unique DSP technology.
  1. KW Series Speakers:
Taking speaker craft to another level of quality, the KW line has all of the K series’ powerful features, but houses them in a slimmer and lighter package. Furthermore, the KW122 and KW152 contain a special mounting system called Tilt-Direct, which allows users to tilt speakers using a simple dial and point them directly at the audience. Assembled from Baltic birch, cast aluminum, and high-grade steel, the speaker cabinets are extremely rugged and designed for transport.
  1. KLA Series Speakers:
This speaker series takes the “line array” approach, but reduces the background knowledge needed for installation. Designed for permanent systems — such as a nightclub, live venue, or a worship hall — each KLA speaker contains extended bass response and circuitry protection for clipped audio (also known as GuardRail). As with other line array systems, KLA speakers can be chained together and controlled by a single gain knob, so you can enjoy the power that comes from a speaker arsenal, without the hassle of dealing with multiple controls.
  1. TouchMix Series Mixers:
Our final recommendation for QSC equipment ventures into the mixing world, and the TouchMix models are some of the best in their class. The TouchMix-8 and TouchMix-16 offer a graphical interface with 12 or 20 respective input channels, allowing you to mix a complex ensemble using one compact board. Co-designed by industry legends Peter Watts and Greg Mackie, these mixers combine the perfect amount of hardware form and digital function.
